Nearly a decade ago I began a pet project over at The Keyboard Corner forum at Musicplayer.com (an excellent keyboard community that I highly recommend). Basically, I set out to establish a synth history of sorts based on what instrument defined each year. Here’s a link to the thread.

So, for each year in question, forum members submitted nominations which we used to create a runoff poll and vote for a “winner” for each year. The result is an impressive synthesizer history list that remains a work in progress. Here’s the list as it stands today:
